Bert -

I clear the root name space but the problem still there.  I did convert a DNN3 module to DNN4 using Web Site Project (WSP).  I copied all the class to App_Code folder and the ascx control in the desktopmodule\modulename folder.  Then I created a Web Application Project (WAP) and copied the code from App_Code back into the desktopmodule\modulename.  I got tons of errors.  Maybe it is name space duplication conflict.  Plus I read some where the WSP does not CodeBehind syntax while WAP continues to use CodeBehind.  There were a lot of form variable missing error.

Vladan,

First thanks for posting instructions at http://vladan.strigo.net/Projects/tabid/75/Default.aspx to use Web Application Project (WAP) for DNN development.  I downloaded the sample BlankModule that you posted and it worked fine.  Using similar approach, I  have sucessfully migrated a fairly large size DNN3 module to DNN4.  Your approach allows me to create specific DLL name for distribution in the PA.  Here are a few major tasks that I have to go thru:

1.  Add lot of statemetn Imports DotNetNuke.xxx

2.  Minor change to  DataProvider to comply with DNN3

Other note:   The WAP uses CodeBehind so it is compatible with DNN 3

I expect that DNN module conversion wizard will help you with this in the future.

As for my approach... wait till you see the upcoming bits :) I'm working on automating the whole thing to a much higher degree than it is now.

so what is the summary?  :)

VS 2005

get WAP from the MS download and VS update and install both

open DNN 4.3 source?

Then follow Vladan instructions?   And you can compile with no errors then?

What is coming soon..  a tool to help?
