Hey gang.

I'm really enjoying DNN so far. I am a C# application developer so still learning the ropes for ASP but really enjoying it. Great framework.

I'm a bit dissapointed though in the performance. I did some research and an article I found talks about how to disable ViewState so it can use the server session instead of transfering the session via ViewState on the form etc.

But I think the article is out dated because it says to modify BasePage.vb but I cannot find this file. Can anyone help describe how this can be done on the new DNN 4.x branch?

Here is the article:
Here

Thanks and take care.

2 things:

* there are already dnn specific modules available to handle viewstate

* the pagebase file is there, you just wont find it in the starterkit, you'll need the full source package for that, as it is part of the library....

cheers,

Erik

It is called PageBase.vb. If you have it ready let me know how you did that? I had some problems with that but that is because I am not yet familiar with VS 2005

BTW, all those modules for moving Viewstate don't work. I have tested some and all give some problems. The way it is done in that wwwcoder article worked fine for me in 3.2.2

Hmm thanks for the reply. That's dissapointing though. I'm really a bit uneasy with the performance I am having with DNN. It just isn't making me too confident of hosting it on our servers. I'm running locally on a 3ghz machine just trying to experiment and its very slow in reaction so that doesn't show much if localhost can't crunch it decently.
