I have built some pages in ASP.NET v2 which I'd really like to adapt as DNN modules.  I've downloaded the starter kit but don't seem to be able to get VS 2005 express to recognise the templates.  What am I being stupid about please??  Thanks in advance for any help.

You should give more informations about the version you are developping on.

I remember having problems with DNN 4.3.2 and the starter kit for this version (in VS2005), it created wrong files and even missed to create some files.
That's why I use the 4.0.3 starter kit with DNN 4.3.2, and I have managed to develop some modules this way.

Hope it helps

Hi Jay,

I had some show-stopping issues with the s-kit myself and decided to try the "manual" way of installation which worked perfectly.
In other words:

a) rename the .vsi into .zip
b) extract with winrar / your favorite unzipper
c) copy the DotNetNuke.zip into your
\Visual Studio 2005\Templates\ProjectTemplates\Visual Web Developer
directory - that's in "my files" (or something like that - my XP is localized so I don't know the exact translation)
d) copy the other .zip files into
\Visual Studio 2005\Templates\ItemTemplates\Visual Web Developer

...now you're all set.

Hope that helps!

Cheers,

Tillman

Many thanks for both answers.  I suspect my problem lay with inexperience and not reading the documentation (maybe I've had Microsoft holding my hand for too long).  I needed to rename the folders in the modules and I needed to open the folders as if they were a website.   Well that's what it looks like.  Anyway if I go into the modules website I can see the templates - so I hope I'll be able to take it forward from there.

Thanks again for your help.

Cheers
