Allright,
I'm trying to remove the DisplayName property from the registration page. This is due to the fact that the clients I'm building the site for (1) do not want the user to change the way their name is displayed and (2) think that its confusing for the user on registration.

I've devised an evil plan to just remove the property box and validation from the registration module and modify the stored procedure to enter the entered username into both the username field and displayname field.

I've torn though the ManageUsers.aspx and can not figure out what it loads for the first five user inputs. I'm not even sure if those are database driven fields, or if its actually loading another user control.

Any help on how to find where these fields are located would be greatly appreciated.

Jeremy,

you are strongly advised not to remove display name, as it is used by a number of modules. I suggest to add logic to your version of the registration module, to hide this option and create the value automatically before saving.

I agree, I do not plan on removing the value from the database. I just need to find out where the text box that you enter your display name on registration is located so I can remove it.

I've searched through manageusers.ascx (the Register control) and can find everything except the top five text boxes (Username, firstname, lastname, displayname, email).

Any Ideas?

Jeremy

I too am very interested in the answer to this question. I would like to hide the UserName field and auto-fill it in code before submission.

Thanks!

I too am very interested in the answer to this question. I customer wants a registration page without a display name, and I need to remove it. I also have additional questions..

a) Anyone know how to remove display name from the registration page?
b) Is there any future plans to make this form modifiable, like the the profile properties forms?
c) Anyone have any advice about 3rd party modules that may handle this?

Thanks,
Mathias
