Hi,

I'm a bit confused... I've created some new modules in VS2005/ASP.Net 2.0 [4.3.5] and followed the excellent advice in the DotNetNuke 4 book

Everything works fine, but I can't see where the resulting DLL is and can't quite get my head round where I would declare that these modules all should share the same DLL. [connected functionality].

Anyone care to provide light?

regards,
Duncan.

CTOsian,

The assembly or dll goes in the bin folder of your dotnetnuke web site.
You will have one assembly or dll per module.

If you have common functionality that you would like to share with other modules then you should create separate class library and add it as a reference to your other module projects.

Hope this helps.

I havent read the book but I asume the modules dont need any dll's they are compiled on the fly. I am sure this is mentioned in the book too.

.. Intersting that Antonio [above] had the same view as me. In clr 1.1 [2.0 is new to me] you normally defined the assembly the code was targetted at.
I accept your comment, but what about the situation where the commercial developer wants to distribute the dll rather than code [psuedo code?]. I note that the DotNetNuke book still talks about DLLs being included in the deployment XML file...
