Hello,

I have an exsisting website and I would like to port it over to DNN 4.3.7.  Can somebody please direct me to documenation/tutorials/products for linking modules/relational data (i.e., passing data between modules and hyperlinking between modules)?  For example I would like to build a custom Category module, link it to a custom Products module which links to a custom Product Detail module.  These modules will be built around my *existing schema*.  I would then like to add addtional third-party modules for Reviews and Articles that link to my product detail module.  I'm assuming the third-party modules will have their own schemas.

Many of the third-party e-commerce modules will not suit my needs, (yes, even catalook).  The major driver here is to work with my existing schema for a majority of the functionality.

Any suggestions would be greatly appreciated.

Thank you, Tony

You may want to consider IMC for this type of module communication.  Here's a simple working example:

Thank you for the sample.  I finally got through the Module Developers Guide.  IMC was the key.

Best,

Tony

If you are writing these modules from scratch in VB or C# there is no reason why they can't work off the same tables. For example the Category module works of the Category table, the Products module works of the Products table and the Category table etc. There is no such thing as a table that can only be used by one particular module.
