Hi all,
I am facing a problem. We have two DNN installations in seperate locations. We have two teams working on these installations. Consider the FAQs module for a moment... one of the team adds a new FAQ in its installation, the same is done by the other team [both FAQs added are different]. Over a period of time we will have several FAQs in these installations with the same Primary Keys in the modules table in the back end. Now, if we want to update the DNN installations without deleting the exesting Pages/Modules, I belive, we will have a problem. Is there a work around for the problem?

In other words, can the content [only the content, only FAQs in this case] of a perticular page/module be exported into another DNN installation, without problems?

Or, the simplest I can make - Is there a way to synchronise these DNN insatallations to reflect the changes made in any of them in the other? Changes in, say, DNN1 to reflect in DNN2 and changes in DNN2 to reflect in DNN1.

If yes, please inform. Please provide detailed procedure...

Thanks in advance.

Regards,

Sasmir.

You should be able to simply export content from the one module, and import it in the other. Even if its on different dnn installs. During import, new records are created, with new ID's, so there will be no PK conflicts.

Of course this will work only for modules that support module Import Export. I am not sure wether the faq module does completely

Also.. for one module this might work fine, if you want to sync a complete portal, that might be a problem. Using the site wizard, you can import a previously created portal template, and using the merge feature of the wizard, an attempt will be done to merge the sites.. but it depends on modules and content whether this will be successful at all.
