Can anybody help me with this question. How do you access controls inside a formview from the code behind?

for example I have a txtbox that I would like to set the value of in code but if I try to use the ID of the control  like this: EmployeeNameTextBox.text = Me.UserInfo.DisplayName

I get an error: Name EmployeeNameTextBox is not declared.

There is no problem with controls outside the Formview?

Thanks

Are you using VS 2003 or VS 2005? Are you using a <asp:textbox> or <input>?

In VS 2003 you must declare a Protected WithEvents ...   (Don't need to do this in VS 2005) for your control and set the control to run server side with the "runat" on the ascx file if your using <input>, it should automatically be set to run at server if you're using the <asp:textbox>.

I am using VS 2005 and it is an asp:textbox and it is set run at server. It seems that because it is inside the asp:FormView tag it doesn't get recognized in the code behind

I figured it out. Controls that are children of the FormView can be accessed like this.

Protected Sub FormView1_Load(ByVal sender As Object, ByVal e As System.EventArgs) Handles FormView1.Load
Dim hypurlcal As System.Web.UI.WebControls.HyperLink = FormView1.FindControl("cmdGetDate")
Dim txtWorkDay As System.Web.UI.WebControls.TextBox = FormView1.FindControl("WorkDayTextBox")

hypurlcal.NavigateUrl = CType(DotNetNuke.Common.Utilities.Calendar.InvokePopupCal(txtWorkDay), String)

End Sub
