Due to popular request, I have created a new upgrade to 4.5.1 tutorial for those users upgrading from 4.x to 4.5.1.  This article covers everything you need to do to successfully upgrade, it even discusses the use of app_offline.htm as well as all configuration elements that MUST be copied.

How about one that covers upgrading from 3.3.7 to 4.5.1 for thos of us still using older modules and want to upgrade to new framework and new module versions?

I can try to get that on the agenda for the next week or so...but really there are only a few differences.

1.  In 3.x you only have 1 connection string, you will simply need to use the same value in both places on the 4.x web.config

2.  You want to be 100% sure that all 3.x code files are removed before you extract the new version (This ensures that ALL files are updated!)

3.  You must change your application from 1.1 to 2.0 for the framework (Depending on your host this can be the most complicated)

THen the rest is really the same.  And of course you want to back everything up!!
