This week marks the anticipated release of the iFinity Url Master module - the most in-depth DotNetNuke Friendly Url Provider and Url Rewriting solution around.  This module was built around the requests that developers and users of DotNetNuke asked for, so it's got everything you need!

The Url Master is a more advanced version of the popular iFinity Friendly Url Provider, and gives you total control over the Urls in a DotNetNuke website.

Url Master solves all the DotNetNuke Url shortcomings without taking shortcuts or hacks - it is a direct replacement for the standard DNN friendly Url provider and integates totally with your website and installed third party modules.

Just some of the features:
- Standard DNN module install, no need for editing web.config files or copying binaries up to your server.  Just upload the install package and you'll be working in minutes.

- GUI interface for changing Friendly Url settings, including a 'test area' where you can try out different settings to see how your site Urls would look, before you apply the changes

- You can completely replace any DNN page URL with whatever you like.   Perfect for defining a more SEO-friendly page name, instead of just using a short name.  No longer are you constrained by the menu name having the same value as the page Url.  Also perfect if you want to use characters outside of the basic Ascii set for your page names, but want the Url to be simplified so it doesn't get encoded with ugly Url encoding.  You'll never have to see /home/tabid/36/default.aspx again!

- You can define 301 permanent redirect and 302 temporary redirect to any Url you like.  If you would like to move some of your DNN pages around your site, but want hard-won search engine rankings to follow your page to it's new destination - using custom 301 redirects is the only way to go.

Just by implementing a full-featured Friendly Url Provider and taking control of the Urls in your site, you will do more to improve your search engine rankings than just about anything else you can install on a DotNetNuke site.

Plus all the features that make the iFinity Friendly Url Provider popular, including 301 redirects for unfriendly Urls, 301 redirects to lower case Urls, replacing spaces and punctuation with a character of your choice.

The iFinity Url Master has already been implemented in many DNN websites, including those running e-commerce applications like Catalook and AspDotNetStoreFront.  The ability to define the best possible Url for a page is a real advantage for SEO work - and it looks cleaner and better as well!

The iFInity Url Master is available as a free trial to try with your website.   No registration required, just download, install and give it a go.   The module will work perfectly on shared hosting platforms and you don't need access to IIS to install and configure it.

For the month of April, as a strictly limited special offer, this module is on sale for 25% off the regular price at snowcovered.com

For more details, go to the iFinity Url Master page.  If you want to see it in action, the http://www.ifinity.com.au site is running it right now.

Of course, the totally free iFinity Friendly Url provider is still available, and has been upgraded at the same time.  Go to http://www.iFinity.com.au/Products/Free_Downloads/ to see the latest - and yes, that's a DotNetNuke url!

Hello Bruce,

I would be more than happy to buy the module, but is there plan to solve the problem of localisation (currently, the module can not handle correctly localisation with DSLocalizator from Locopon)  ?

DV FX

PS: DNNMaster SEO Pack is trying to find a solution as well, since they have another bug with localisation.

Bruce - great work on your modules!

Will this module work in a 'medium trust' hosting environment?  I have a client very interested in it if it does.

Thanks,

Gopher

Gopher,

The module should work fine in a medium trust environment, however, in order to save the settings, the module makes changes to the web.config file, so I could foresee permissions errors there.   You could enable a lower trust, configure the module, then return to medium trust.   The module also uses caching so the file-based caching provider may also cause issues - but you should have that one figured out already.

The best thing to do is to download the module from the website here : http://www.ifinity.com.au/Products/Free_Downloads/#Url_Master and try it out.  You can make a request for a 10-day no message trial licence here : http://www.ifinity.com.au/Licensing/Product/iFinity.UrlMaster/
