I have created a VBScript called "RepackSkin.vbs" that will repackage a dnn 4 or earlier skin package.  You can download it free from www.tressleworks.ca under the free modules tab.  It is located in the Other Files tab

The script will unpack the existing skin/container files and generate the appropriate (but minimal) manifest file so the skin will be loaded properly by DNN 5.0.  While have tested this on several of the skin packages I have, obviously this is not an exhaustive test, but at minimum you will have a repackaged skin zip file to work with.

The script will handle zip files containing skins, and containers, plus zip file that contain both a Skins.zip and Containers.zip file.

You will need to download the XStandard XZip library (http://xstandard.com/en/documentation/xzip/) and follow the install .. should be straight forward.

I discovered several issues about the Manifest file and the most important issue is "CASE MATTERS" .. so if you have any trouble verify you are using the correct case ...

Enjoy,
Paul.

I keep getting a "Can't Create Object" error (XStandard.zip) on Line 452.  I've registered the dll but to no avail.  I am running Vista Ultimate 64.

Thanks,

Michael

This works and creates zips which work with mode=installresources. This has saved me hours of clicking with manual installations of tens of skins.

EXCELLENT! Thanks a bunch.

micheal,

I have noticed that XStardard XZip library does have some limitations, but this seems to be an issue with the registering the DLL .. please ensure you were able to register the DLL properly.  Did you get a registration sucessful message box?   As the library is free.. I can't complaint too much.

I have come across one or two Zip files that the library doesn't like.  The libaray considers the files empty. -- I unzipped the contents into a temporary directory and the rezipped the files into a new zip file using WinZip.  The XZip library could then process the zip file as expected.

If anyone could suggest another Zip library I could use with VBscript... I will give it a try.

Paul.
