New Version of iFinity Url Master Released

A new version of the popular 'Url Master' module has been released today. The Url Master module provides total control over the Urls in your DNN websites, incorporating search and human friendly Urls, custom Urls and redirects. This latest version introduces DNN 5.0 support - while maintaining support for DNN versions 4.6.x through 4.9.x.

If you haven't seen this module before, or haven't looked at it for a while, here's why you need to download and try this indispensable SEO tool today:

  • Provides clean and clear Urls for all DNN pages, removing the 'tabid' parameter and allowing for hyphenated words. Change mysite.com/mykeywords/tabid/22/default.aspx into mysite.com/my-key-words/
  • Allows freedom of extension for DNN installs : run under .aspx, .htm, .page or even .php if you want - or just use no extensions at all.
  • Cleans up your Search Engine listings by issuing 301 redirects for the myriad of unfriendly style DNN urls indexed for your site.
  • Gives you total control over your urls : you can create entirely new Urls for your DNN pages - no longer do you have to have the Url tied to the page name.
  • Creates custom 301 redirects to move old content from existing sites, or to simply move pages around within your site.
  • Installs quickly and easily : you can transform your DNN site Urls in 5 minutes.

Unlike many other Url rewriting schemes for DNN, the Url Master module integrates directly into the DNN framework, and is compatible with just about every third-party DNN module around, including complex modules like ASPDotNetStoreFront and CataLOOK.

If you've already enjoying the benefits of this module, here's why you should be interested in upgrading:

  • DNN 5.0 support : even if you're not yet on DNN 5, one day you'll probably upgrade : have your site ready
  • Long list of bug fixes and enhancements: the community speaks, the changes get made!
  • Allows for in-place upgrades of DNN installs : No longer do you need to deactivate the Url Master software before upgrading your DNN install.

This upgrade is completely free to existing licenced customers. New customers can download and trial the software for free.

More Information

To request a trial, download the Installation Package and Instructions, and install on your site. You can go to the Licensing page to request a free 10-day trial, or you can use the product in 'demo' mode for as long as you like, with no restrictions.

To upgrade, just download the 1.13.01 install package, and install into your DNN site using the Module Installer. Then just review the options on the 'Friendly Url Settings' page, and click 'apply changes'.

Just an update : since posting the 1.13.00 version, a few bugs have been found with various features.  These include:

- page index not refreshing when new redirects added

- 1.13.00 Sql scripts not Sql 2000 compatible

- Errors on DNN 5 child portal creations in some circumstances

This new version (1.13.02) fixes all of the above problems, plus a few small UI enhancements, and is a straight upgrade path for all versions, just install using the module installer.  1.13.02 is compatible with all versions from DNN 4.6 to 5.0.

The download is available from the iFinity Url Master product page.

Another bug is that both versions, paid and free, can for some installations interfere with the upgrade process, http://yoursite/Install/install.aspx?mode=upgrade.

The simple fix is to have both versions automatically exclude anything with the Install in it...end users should not have to do this manually.

This broke my 4.9 and 4.9.1 upgrades until I found a post where someone turned off Url Master, successfully upgraded, then turned it back on.

I had to uncomment everything in my web.config -- tedious and bug-prone.

Best solution I think is to automatically NOT parse that particular string somehow.

Thank you, Tom

Tom

Didn't see your post, forum notifications again.

This new version (there is also a new version of the Friendly Url Provider) has specific excludes in for the install.aspx?mode=upgrade call.  From this version forwards, you can upgrade the DNN install with the module in-place.

If you try with this latest version and find it's still not working, please log it in the product support forums at http://www.ifinity.com.au/Products/Support_Forums/
