Hi guys,

Another free module again from us. This time is YouTube Player module. You can now play your favorite youtube videos on your site.
The module uses Jquery to pull out the video feeds.
here is the demo:

These are all very nice modules, but I really don't appreciate the hidden H1 tag linking back to your website. It may be hidden, and the modules may be free, but that's no excuse. It's simply an underhanded attempt to hijack page rank and I'm glad I discovered it before I passed any of the modules on to any of the other people I manage sites for.

I've been back and carefully checked the site, but the license type under which they are listed does not suggest this is being done. Nor does any other content on the site as I write this post.

In any case.. I'm very disappointed I behaved with such enthusiasm in my feedback and forum posts there. I would have provided plenty of good will for the site, but not like this.

Rob

Hi Rob,

I think you are right, this should be unappropriate to do as i do not explain clearly either in my site or in module license. I will formaly send emails to all downloaders (registered user on my site) and add this information in the download sections.

andy

Hi Sensen,

Well I'll give you credit for providing the right response. I won't use the modules myself, but others can now at least make their own choice.

I was very keen on the Youtube player, so if you do decide to release it commercially without a backlink, I'll be in.

And I'll just clarify for others why I can't use a module with a backlink, especially one in an h1 tag: If I had put the Youtube Player on a site belonging to someone else (and I nearly did), it would tell Google that their mining industry site (with a rank of 6) thinks that DNNinfo.com is one of the most relevant mining sites on the web... when it obviously is not.

I'd have no great issues with putting it on a site related to DNN development, but even then the h1 tag is excessive - It's not just that there is a link, but that it makes out that it is the most important link on the page.

Regards,
Rob
