Something New - MS Pivot for DotNetNuke

We have recently publically released a module that we have previously only allowed for premium customers. This module really is something new, not only to DotNetNuke but to website technologies and data mining. We hope you like it, we certainly do.

The DNN Module is built on Microsoft Pivot technology.

Microsoft Pivot Module for DotNetNuke

Mine your DotNetNuke user accounts to spot trends in your accounts and signup history. Microsoft "Pivot" allows you to organize and display data like never before.

The new technology recently released by Microsoft Labs is allowing the visualization of data that would otherwise be difficult to explore.

Take a look at the Ted Talk Video below to understand this technology, and imagine how you could use it with your DotNetNuke membership data.

There is nothing else that can sort and arrange data like Microsoft Pivot!

We were inspired by the recent video shown on the ted.com website by Gary Flake.

This video shows a new and revolutionary way of looking at and manipulating data on the web. We took this idea and decided that it would be cool to make a module that automatically generated a pivot view of information stores.

We, being long time developers in DNN, decided to develop this technology using the scheduler process of DotNetNuke and subsequently produced the DNN Pivot Module. We pushed the design concepts of MS Pivot somewhat, using some smart caching, scheduler processes and image stores to allow the pivot to run with very large data sets.

This module does require some configuration of IIS 7 if you are using it on a website hosted on Windows 2008 Server. Very cool, but impossible to download trial - even when logged in to your site, the link to trial download takes you to a non-logged in page, though the requirement is that you be logged in.

Is the trial really only a single day? Better wait and download it on a day when I've nothing else planned!

Interesting, though.

Thanks for your feedback Michael. We think the technology is cool too.

With regard to your issue getting the trial, I am not really sure of your problem. The software is available to all registered users of our site and available with all our other DNN modules on this page.

All modules can be download free from that page.

I have tested login to that page and access to all modules using your details registered and authenticated with us on the 18th of Sep this year. I logged in with the test using your email address and pass without issue.

Am I not understanding your issue correctly?

With regard to the trial. Yes it is a day. The module installs in about 30 seconds, and generates pivot data inside of a few minutes for most sites. We feel that having a quick play with the module to see the power is enough to help people decide if the technology is good for them.

Now that I understand that this is hard-wired for viewing member base data only, and not configurable for various custom needs, I agree that a one day trial is sufficient.

When I was logged in to your site, and then clicked on the link to download the module, it took me to a page where I saw the login link, and not my name; Here I selected the download link and got the message that I had to be logged on. If I logged on again on this page, and went through the same steps, I was consistently led to a page where I was not logged on, and then informed that I had to log on.
