Hi Sebastian, I've often wondered why these scripts (or the principles behind your scripts) are not integrated into the core product!? Do you know why they are not?

Your description says "dnnTurbo SQL Scripts are designed to improve stability and performance of the database used by your DNN websites. This is achieved by improving the database schema (fixing issues, enforce referential integrity and improving indexes) and the code to query it"

Since the very beginning of DNN, the database has had a terrible design (in my opinion) with basic concepts like referential integrity, and indexing completely missing!

Why is DNN neglecting such a fundamental part of performance, stability, bugs, design and basic software design principle, so that the community has to provide such fixes?

Hi Rod,
I always tried working together with DNN Corp to get at least the most important parts of my scripts included into DNN. This was successful in DNN 7.2.0, where I was able to add a number of improvements and 7.4.0, when I added localized website settings to the platform. Since that time, more than a dozen of my pull requests hadn't been handled - which was no motivation to added additional ones. Just recently, I got the offer for the pull requests to be accepted, if I resubmit it for the next DNN version and I'll do my best.
However, regarding the size of my script, it would be an impossible workload for me, to create a separate pull request for each part. I will try to get in the schema improvements (using more adequate data types, adding check constraints and foreign key constraints) included, but cannot promise to do this for all indexes and optimized views, functions and procedures as well.
Besides, I am using indexed views, which are currently not supported by DNN Corp., but they are essential for some of the performance improvements.
Another benefit of providing these scripts as separate options: I can easily backport improvements. For a lot of fixes in the core I was able to integrate it in my scripts even for previous versions, where they were reported.

Cheers from Germany,
Sebastian Leupold

hm, I just tried to edit my post - but the page timed out before the editor showed up.
It looks like this site needs to apply Turbo Scripts as well ;)

Hi Sebastian, thanks for your response and for your efforts in making DNN a better product.

It's a pity that the DNN developers won't take these ideas on-board and integrate them in to the core. I cannot understand how they can justify this continuing oversight of such a fundamental part of software development.

Who is the lead developer for DNN? Their credentials for the job should be seriously reviewed IMO.
