Last week I was trying to implement SSL for just a few pages of our site so users could submit forms securely. After looking for quite a while I found DNN doesn't really support this kind of thing. You can laugh at me now if I have missed something. Anyways, after reading a few articles, I found I would have to just redirect on my own. I found a module already created that said it would handle this, but I didn't want to really pay the $39 they wanted for it. I decided to take the opportunity to create my first module. It is kind of crude, but I decided to make it available in case others wanted to use it too.

Just install the module and add it somewhere on the home page. Go into the settings and make it appear on all pages. Set it to "Switch to non-secure?". This will make all pages check if they are secure. If they are, it will automatically redirect to the same page, but as non-secure. On the pages that you want secure, select the settings and check "Switch to secure?". This will make it check and redirect to secure if it isn't already.

Note that if you change "Display Module On All Pages?" after you have set them up, you will have to go back and set them all over again.

I hope this helps someone else out there.

Like I said, crude, but it seems to work.

Is it DNN3 or DNN4

Do you know the truth when you hear it?

DNN4.    I haven't grossly overlooked some feature that works with SSL have I?

Maybe this has been asked before but, why isn't this function (the SSL processing) built into the core???

Not sure why my answer to the Moderator's question hasn't been approved yet, but it is for DNN4, although since I provide the source, you can always recompile it with the DNN3 dll.

As for why it isn't currently supported, this is an artical I found.
