When the Portal Templates setting is checked and the settings saved, the Store Admin module performs a number of tests:

If the default portal folder (e.g.: ...\Portals\n\) does not contain a Store subfolder, then this subfolder is created and template files are copied into the \Templates subfolder (e.g.: ...\Portals\n\Store\Templates\).

If the Store subfolder already exists, the templates are not copied to preserve your existing templates. You should works on a local copy with the Portal Templates setting checked.

AFAIK there is no nowrap attribute used in the version 02.01.00. In some cases, ASP.NET add some attributes automatiquely. Can you test your template with two different browsers (IE and FF) and tell me if the nowrap is present with both browsers. You can also try the last beta version 02.01.17 available at codeplex. A lot of works has been done to make this version XHTML compliant.
