Howdy folks...

I have been tasked with implementing some meta content into our DNN site and running into a problem. Perhaps you could give me a gentle push to the right direction.

The company I work for has very specific SEO content for its products. They would like for some of the categories and products to trigger a "noindex" meta tag. For the rest, they have specific content they would like to fill in for the page title, meta description and meta keywords.

Now, I have enabled the SEO feature in the Admin and this works fine... but its a bit limited. I was wondering if this could be done in my ASCX file... Im a bit of a noob when it comes to the more advanced parts of DNN, (even tho I designed and implemented the skin for this site).

If this is possible.. could you give me some pointers on how I would go about this... For instace... is it possible to do some sort of logic in the ASCX that uses the product ID to change the page title and meta information? thats kinda where Im getting hung up...

Any advice would be huge for me.

Thanks in advance.

Hi Brad,

The Store module 02.01.21 already use several SEO rules. You can control the following meta tags: Title, Description and Keywords of the page where the Store Catalog module is placed. Depending if a category is selected or if a detail product is displayed, the module rewrite the meta tags. But there is no "nonindex" setting, because for me it's not logical to hide a product to a search engine! To do this you have to modify the source code version and create your own version. Doing this will avoid you to update the module with future versions.

We (team members) are Humans offering their knowledge, their work and their spare time FOR FREE to benefit the community. It would be so particularly appreciated that your messages begin with "Hello" and end with "Thank you" or any other form of politeness. Ask yourself what your reaction would be, if you were approached by me (a total stranger) on the street to ask you something without saying "Hello" nor "Thank you"? After several years of services dedicated to the community, I begin to be tired to read requests without any form of politeness.

Thanks for the reply Gilles.

Im currently using the SEO feature - which for my purposes - works great. Unforunately for me, my client is asking for certain things to not be indexed, on top
of using custom meta content for some of the products.

Thanks again, Ill inform them that this is the way the software is designed (a topic we covered already prior to choosing a framework over a custom site).

/cheers

Do you need to have the categories and products on different pages in order to rewrite the meta tags?  I have them on the same page, and it doesn't seem to be working at all.  Where do I activate the SEO for store module 2.01?
