Hi,

I've got an existing, live php online shop (osCommerce) which needs an upgrade.   I thought to switch to DNN store because I'm more comfortable with the programming language.  I found some info on the store module on the web but I still have some unanswered questions:
I'd like to know if the DNN Store can handle any other payment modules besides Paypal and Authorize.net?
Has anybody configured it with the Intuit payment module?  Also, does the Store allow you to create extra fields?  How stable is the Store module?  What are the typical implementation issues with it?

I would appreciate if somebody could answer these questions or give me any advise on my "switch or not to switch" decision.

Thanks,

Laszlo

Hi Laszlo,

The Store module is provider based (Gateway, Shipping, Tax, ...), then you can create your own gateway provider. Please, please, please, before trying to work with the source version read this post and follow my advices you will save a lot of times! The Store module is not a simple one with 21 projects, if you have not already developed a module for DNN, please buy a book about DNN (several are available at Amazon) or look at the website of Michael Washington a well know member of the community. You can find also plentry of tutorials for a small fee at DNNCreative. Because the Store module use the WAP dev model, if you don't know the difference between WAP and WSP, please search related articles at Microsoft or try Google.

You can't create extra fields nor product variants with the current Store module. If you really need this feature, you can try NB_Store from Nevoweb another free ecommerce module but NOT supported here. I can't tell you more about this product because I do not use it, but his creator (David) is a nice guy. You can also buy several others ecommerce module at the DotNetNuke Marketplace.

The Store module version 02.01.36 released on 05/25/2010 is stable, you can read posts here most of times it's a problem with older versions.
Currently I work on a new beta version with a lot of new features, you can read my comments for each beta version at Codeplex.

We (team members) are Humans offering their knowledge, their work and their spare time FOR FREE to benefit the community. It would be so particularly appreciated that your messages begin with "Hello" and end with "Thank you" or any other form of politeness. Ask yourself what your reaction would be, if you were approached by me (a total stranger) on the street to ask you something without saying "Hello" nor "Thank you"? After several years of services dedicated to the community, I begin to be tired to read requests without any form of politeness.

I forgot to mention than the Store module use the C# language, while most of other official DNN modules use VB!
