Hi. This post is a follow up of trouble ticket 21564 I filed on the Codeplex project site. I checked out the latest revision of the DNN store module (for reference purposes, that is r58269) and when I attempted to build the project, I got a lot of errors relating to missing source code files. Visual Studio 2010 Professional also confirmed that there are several files referenced in the various DNN store module projects that are not in the repository. For your convenience, a list of these missing files is included below:

  • DotNetNuke.Store.Admin:
    • Enums.cs
    • StoreTokenReplace.cs
  • DotNetNuke.Store.Cart
    • EmailOrderTokenReplace.cs
    • IPNPageBase.cs
  • DotNetNuke.Store.Cart.PayPalProvider
    • PayPalIPN.aspx
  • DotNetNuke.Store.Catalog
    • CatalogTokenReplace.cs
    • ListTemplate.cs
  • DotNetNuke.Store.Components
    • FileSystemHelper.cs
    • IStoreTabedControl.cs
    • TrustHelper.cs
  • DotNetNuke.Store.Customer
    • DownloadInfo.cs
    • OrderDetailTokenReplace.cs
    • OrderTokenReplace.cs
  • DotNetNuke.Store.Providers.Address.DefaultAddressProvider
    • AddressTokenReplace.cs
  • DotNetNuke.Store.WebControls
    • CustomerDownloads.ascx
    • Download.ashx
    • Download.ashx.cs
    • HeaderHelper.cs

Hi Robert,

would you please confirm that you read Gilles's pinned post 'how to install Store with sources', and that you stricltly applied Gilles's method step by step (or did it your own way with a full understanding of the differences implied)?

Hi Benoit.

I examined the pinned post by Gilles on how to install the store with sources and i was eventually able to get the store module to compile successfully. Thank you for your help in this regard.

I had a couple of follow up questions to ask in light of how one is supposed to get the source code for the store module. Before I ask them, though, it will be instructive for me to explain how I plan on using the source code.

I work for a web-based e-commerce company and, after giving both DNN and the store module a careful evaluation, we have decided to use both DNN and the store module as a basis for a derivative product that will likely be closed source. However, we also want to be good neighbors and contribute back to the code base code that is either outside of our core business competencies or are bug fixes.

Having said that, my questions are:
  1. How does one join the DNN project as a code / test contributor?
  2. How does one join the DNN store project as a code / test contributor?
  3. (if applicable) what coding standards / QA standards exist for contributions to the DNN / store code base to be accepted?

Thank you again for your time and your help!

To answer my own question, to contribute back to the DNN project, submit your bug fixes and enhancement offerings to http://support.dotnetnuke.com
