Hi everyone,

I have a question concerning templates (DNN6 and Store 3.0). I am working on a clients site and he has the requirement of having products showing up on subcategories only. For example, if I have a category of Oils and subcategories of Olive and also Truffle. If I have one product in each of the Olive and Truffle categories, when viewing the Oils category (parent), I don't want to see 2 products at the bottom but rather none (until I navigate down into each of the subcategories).

As far as I currently understand, there are 3 levels of templates: Main or catalog (Catalog.htm), Container or category (ListContainer.htm), and Product Item (ProductList.htm). Then there is a non-embedded level - the Product Detail (ProductDetail.htm). What I am proposing would be 4 levels of embedded templates.

So my question is 1) Is my understanding right? Is there no concept of categories and subcategories in the templating system? How can I implement what I am proposing in the first paragraph? and 2) if there currently is no such concept, would this be something that could be in the next release?

Thanks!

-Sam

Hi Sam,

That's not related to the template system! In the Store Catalog module settings, expand 'Category Product Settings' then uncheck 'Sub-Categories'

After several years of services dedicated to the community, I begin to be tired to read requests without any form of politeness.

Hello World,

Maybe I'm stupid - but I can't figure out why changes to /templates/catalog.htm DO NOT make any difference? I can remove all tokens in that file and still page loads ass usual (working, with products etc.),
My goal is actually to get away from "use standard catalog" - and rather have the frontpage of shop being list of categories (like a gallery of the top categories)..... then after that just use the standard catalog template.

Best regards - thank you for your time - no matter what the answer will be :-)
