I have two pages, each has the Store Catalog Module with a different default category set and using CSS, have hidden the ability to change the category.  I would like to be able to have both of these on one page but the second instance is using the default category of the first one, so instead of two different sets of products, I see one set duplicated.   Apparently, the first default category is overriding any subsequent ones in the same page.

Is there a way to display the products in some, but not all, available categories on one page, with the products in each category grouped?

Thanks.

JoAnn

Hi,
You can't have more than one instance of the Store Catalog module on a page! IMHO this do not make sense and I never seen such kind of 'real' store.

You can't have all products from 'some' categories of your catalog, except if they are related! In this case, it's probably more a taxonomy problem than a 'store' problem. Let me give you a sample, imagine you sell clothes for men and you have have shirts of two kinds: long sleeves and short sleeves. If you want to display both of them on the same page you 'just' have to create a 'Shirts' category used as parent and two children categories 'Long Sleeves' and 'Short Sleeves' with 'Shirts' selected as parent. Now in the Store Catalog settings, you check 'Use Default Category' and select 'Shirts' (In the General Settings Section), then in the 'Category Products Settings' section, check 'Sub-categories'!

Thanks,

I didn't even think about using subcategories.  That might be a better approach.  That said, would I be able to display some, but not all subcategories as groups on one page?  That is, all events available for registration as a group, then all souvenirs available as a group?  The site currently has three categories, events, souvenirs, and meals.  If I wanted to display the first two, but not the third in separate groups on one page, is this possible?

Thanks again,

JoAnn

Hi,

Sorry but you can't do that! To be able to have some categories and/or products available only for a group, you need a module applying permissions at category or product level. The goal of the Store module is to be simple, not such kind of module with myriades of features and settings.

I was able to use Sub Categories to get close to what I wanted to get.  Thanks for your help.
