I've recently gotten into DNN, and out of curiosity, visited a project site using my PSP (which runs a version of ACCESS' NetFront mobile browser); suprisingly, even though DNN is designed for larger screens by default, the page loaded and rendered very quickly on the mobile browser. Granted, there was a minimum of content on the site, but even with typical web-sized images (like the navigation elements and icons,) the site loaded at a speed that was on par with those designed specifically for the PSP. It leads me to believe that DNN could prove to be an excellent platform for building psp-specific iterations of portals (alongside their regularly sized-counterparts.)

A search of the site and forums indicated WAP mobile applications have been targeted, but there didn't seem to be any targeted towards the PSP. If anyone knows otherwise or has comments, advice, etc...

Interesting, I've not browsed the net on a PSP. How big would the demand for PSP sites be though?

ParkerCW:

Do me a favor and hopefully you will see something interesting.  Please connect to my site with your PSP and see what happens (www.almacigo.com).  The site is still running on DNN 1.0.10e, which was the last version of DNN that supported mobile devices.  Did you know that???

By the way, you should get a mobile optimized page and not the regular site, that is, unless the NetFront browser presents itself as a fully capable browser.

Please let me know what happens, I'm curious to know.

Carlos:

Checked out the site from my PSP and it looked just like a site that was formatted for a full size browser. It was scrollable, both vertically and horizontally; the striped background was not visible, but there were no apparent formatting differences.

Not sure exactly. But there are multiple grass-roots style sites that focus on anything from firmware hacks and homebrew software, to java-script based web apps and games. You can also download/view RSS feeds, podcasts, music, photos, videos, e-books, etc.
