I am wanting to create a website to host portals for multiple teams (game teams). Each team should be able to log in to their own portal and manage their own portal (look and feel, modules, etc...).  Of course, as host, I would specify what modules are available, as well as make sure they are upgraded as needed.

Is DNN up to the task? How do I get started?

Thanks

This is what DNN is used for a lot so yes DNN is up to it.  To get started you can go to one of the hosting companies that advertise on DNN and get set up in a few minutes and then you can just create as many poertals as you like.  We did a lot of performance work in DNN 4.4 and multi portal setups with 400 sites in was part fo the test.

This sounds like what I've been looking for.

Unfortunately, I've been unable to produce a child portal while running in VS2005. It says it completes, but I cannot "view" the site. Hopefully it works out from a service provider.

Sorry to interrupt, but it seems that there's a very critical problem with multi-portal sites. Admins of child portals will be logged out randomly after each 5 minutes, approximately. This problem happens only in IE and the core team hasn't been able to fix it yet. So, you may want to consider carefully before deploying the site. I myself created a website-builder portal based on this function of DNN. But after sometimes, my users were complaining that they're kicked out very frequently and unfortunately, I had to close the site. It was extremely desperate.

These are some resources related to the problem :

Wow, this is good to know before signing up for 1 year of hosting somewhere.
