Hi,

I want to make a download available on my site but I need to log which users download it. I currently use the Catalook cart but it's overkill for what must be a very simple process for my users, since they have to check out. I have the Repository module and they have this feature in Gemini, but I need something to tide me through.

Do any of the media/download modules log this? My download is fairly big - about 10 MB.

Thanks
Rozanne

not sure, but i think the documents module or the udt module can handle this, provided that you make sure your download is handles through linkclick. DNN will then track all downloads.

If you need a more complex module you could try the Document Exchange (DMX) module from Bring2Mind.net, it offers dl logging even in the light version, and email subscriptions in the pro version

Hi
I used a commercial module for this task recently.
It tracks all instances of the Documents module (old or latest).

On SC look for NS Document Download Reports. ($45)

Oh wow, I didn't realise that the humble documents module gives an option to log the user and time when the document is downloaded. The last time I looked at it was very long ago! Thanks for the tip. I'm just peeking to see where it's logging it, if it's in the database I should be able to just pull my own query ...

Hurray -

select * FROM urlLog where UrlTrackingID IN (227)

gives me exactly what I need. Saved me a bundle. Thanks!
