From what I have seen so far, dnn contradicts all my experience with products developed with M$ technology.  Dnn seems awesome!  I keep waiting for the bubble to burst, but so far, the technology and core team are extremely impressive.

I keep expecting the 'Storefront' scenario.  My first shopping cart was built using this tacky product pushed by my ISP when I needed a shopping cart for my friend's business.  I ended up looking like an idiot.  I had to hack together a web-based application to take the place of this horrible product that was touted with and by Microsoft.  Since then, I have noticed that all the products ever pushed on M$ platforms are cheesey in my book.

But now, in the last week, my new employer lets me in on the fact that a lot of the websites we support are running dnn already.  The sites are good.  dnn seems like it is extremely well designed, planned, and managed.

Is this for real?

Yep, it's for real.  Takes a while to get used to giving away your hard earned lines of code but the end result is a MUCH better product than any of us could have built by ourselves.  Also the ecosystem of developers, hosters, designers and users is fantastic.

Take the red pill and we'll show you the truth.

First time i used DNN the first thought that came through my mind was....wow all those hours to code a website for a school assignment (im 23yrs old) and this DotNetNuke... *click* *click* and there you have a website full functional...i was amazed and pissed i didnt find it before :)

kidding aside... DNN is amazing...helped me a lot in my work.....and the way you can create ur own module and plug it in to the system makes it even more awesome...

Thanks  and Regards

lol, it's going to be awhile before my code is going to be worthy the open source library. My hat is seriously off to the heroic deeds of the open source developers.

I have a question regarding container/module design with DotNetNuke.  I am wondering what kind of contstraints/complications are driven by the fact that panes are rectanglar.  I am not trying to be a dork, I just know my clients will want web effects that defy the rectangular nature of panes.  Is this a legitimate concern on my part?  Is there a way to understand DotNetNuke that would allow me to see that I have it all wrong about rectangular panes creating layouts end up looking like a pattern of rows and columns?  Do I need to understand how panesand modules can create any possible 2-D layout?

As always, any help will be appreciated immensely and rewarded in the afterlife, by which time I hope to have money to give.  In the meantime, you have my heartfelt thanks.
