OK, the media module isn't good for a band dotnetnuke website. It automatically loads content at startup doesn't let you choose whether or not to load and it doesn't let you offer people the choice of what to listen to. Can I just put this flashplayer on my site, configure it, and put it into a dotnetnuke module how so it will launch correctly in the pane?

Here is one that I found... (and wouldn't this avoid the windows/quicktime/firefox, etc. problems because most people do have flash?)

http://www.lissaexplains.com/mp3player.shtml

<object type="application/x-shockwave-flash" data="http://www.
yourdomain.com/xspf_player.swf?playlist_url=http://www.
yourdomain.com/playlist.xspf&autoplay=true
&repeat_playlist=true&player_title=KICK&playlist_size=3"
width="400" height="151">
<param name="movie" value="http://www.yourdomain.com/xspf_player
.swf? playlist_url=http://www.yourdomain.com/playlist.xspf&
;autoplay=true&repeat_playlist=true&player_title=
KICK&playlist_size=3" />
</object>

Now, the question is... can I embed this and what is the best way to embed it?

Best,

Katherine

You can embed it, but the disadvantage is that you would have to add it to the Skin and it would be hardcoded.
You could also create a flash file with a play, stop and pause button (or playlist) with which you can load different mp3 files.
That way you could use the media module and it would not be hardcoded in the skin.

Timo,

Why shouldn't you just be able to embed it into a text module on the home page? (although, I just tried it and previewed it rather than updated and I had to close out of it...)

Best,

Katherine

You could also add the one you suggest in the HTML editor, I just thought creating your own player would be nice option. Beware that you probably have to do something about the "click here to activate" problem in IE.there are some generic javascripts that solve the problem which you would have to add to your skin.
