Ok, in my mind a question asked and not answered, so lets try and put it another way,

QUESTION: IS there a single post or white paper  that bullet points the features and benifits of the NEW 4.5 Release?

My research could not find one, basically, it seems, you need to sort through the posts and piece it together yourself, I am afraid.  If your are wondering if its worth the upgrade, its my understanding there were some security issues handled, especially in the Forum (Kudos to those folks for kicking that our so quikly).  I am not sure if changes in security were made to the core.

It is also my understanding, but I havent had a chance to confirm this, that the 4.5 ships with the same text editor that we use in this forum, however , I think you may have to make a change in the webconfig file to enable it .  This may only be for new installs updates maynot have this, wait I'll check.

FckHtmlEditorProvider is the one I see, under providers there is a folder for Ftb3HtmlEditor, what are the benifits of one over the other not sure, but I am pretty sure earlier versions only came with one.  (By the way I checked a site that was upgraded from 4.4 to 4.5

Ok checked a site that was upgraded from 4.01 it only has Ftb3HtmlEditorProvider, therefore I am going to guess that this is the orginal editor. The upgrade automatically loads the FCK one which I believe is the new one (or the one that people like DNncreative (Lee to those he saves from fustration every day input the diety of yoru choice Bless him) use to recommend people switching to).    What I do not know is how that will effect any Html/Text module that you created data using the old editor, one would assume not at all since its converted to html in some way anyway.

I can not testify that the above information is true or accurate.

  • no, there is no comprehensive list.
  • security issues have been in the forums and in the core (see here and Cathal's blog)
  • DNN 4.5.0 ships with FCKEditor, the new default HTMLEditor. This is automatically activated, when using new release.config as template for your web.config
