I don`t know if this is the correct forum for my question, but I`m looking for a profile module where users are able to see and search other profiles.
I`ve heard that in future there will be such a core module, but I need it now.

Is there  such a module which is for free???

The DNN core user profile module is extensible - all added profile items are stored in the same table on a per-portal basis as the default properties.

Any of these can be made visible and required and when setting it up you can allow users to specify for each item in their profle which is vislble to admins only or to all users.

I've not done much with this ... don't know exactly how users get to look at other users data or search the profile ... but see if messing with User Settings will do what you want.

Yep, I once tried that module. However, I didn't like the concept of it very much and using it threw me some errors.

If you want a simple and free user directory that shows particular fields, try DNN Worx User Directory. Just modify the core User Property module so that users will have to edit their profile during or right after registering process.
