I just installed DNN 4.5 last week and it installed without an issue and is presently running without an issue except when I log on as the Host Admin and then try to change the Host Settings.   I get the following error.

An error has occurred.
DotNetNuke.Services.Exceptions.PageLoadException: Unable to generate a temporary class (result=1). error CS2001: Source file 'C:\WINDOWS\TEMP\l4fmjvuy.0.cs' could not be found error CS2008: No inputs specified ---> System.InvalidOperationException: Unable to generate a temporary class (result=1). error CS2001: Source file 'C:\WINDOWS\TEMP\l4fmjvuy.0.cs' could not be found error CS2008: No inputs specified at System.Xml.Serialization.Compiler.Compile(Assembly parent, String ns, CompilerParameters parameters, Evidence evidence) at System.Xml.Serialization.TempAssembly.GenerateAssembly(XmlMapping[] xmlMappings, Type[] types, String defaultNamespace, Evidence evidence, CompilerParameters parameters, Assembly assembly, Hashtable assemblies) at System.Xml.Serialization.TempAssembly..ctor(XmlMapping[] xmlMappings, Type[] types, String defaultNamespace, String location, Evidence evidence) at System.Xml.Serialization.XmlSerializer.GenerateTempAssembly(XmlMapping xmlMapping, Type type, String defaultNamespace) at System.Xml.Serialization.XmlSerializer..ctor(Type type, String defaultNamespace) at System.Xml.Serialization.XmlSerializer..ctor(Type type) at DotNetNuke.Common.Utilities.XmlUtils.Serialize(Object obj) at DotNetNuke.Modules.Admin.Host.FriendlyUrls.SaveViewState() at System.Web.UI.Control.SaveViewStateRecursive() at System.Web.UI.Control.SaveViewStateRecursive() at System.Web.UI.Control.SaveViewStateRecursive() at System.Web.UI.Control.SaveViewStateRecursive() at System.Web.UI.Control.SaveViewStateRecursive() at System.Web.UI.Control.SaveViewStateRecursive() at System.Web.UI.Control.SaveViewStateRecursive() at System.Web.UI.Control.SaveViewStateRecursive() at System.Web.UI.Control.SaveViewStateRecursive() at System.Web.UI.Control.SaveViewStateRecursive() at System.Web.UI.Control.SaveViewStateRecursive() at System.Web.UI.Control.SaveViewStateRecursive() at System.Web.UI.Control.SaveViewStateRecursive() at System.Web.UI.Control.SaveViewStateRecursive() at System.Web.UI.Control.SaveViewStateRecursive() at System.Web.UI.Control.SaveViewStateRecursive() at System.Web.UI.Control.SaveViewStateRecursive() at System.Web.UI.Page.SaveAllState() at System.Web.UI.Page.ProcessRequestMain(Boolean includeStagesBeforeAsyncPoint, Boolean includeStagesAfterAsyncPoint) --- End of inner exception stack trace ---

Any ideas how to fix this?

Thanks.

if it does not fix by itself, try to restart your IIS

I would recommend trying to restart the application (Host Settings -> Restart application).  If that doesn't work I would try the above solution of restarting IIS.

Well that's one of the problems, is that I get the above error when I click on Host -> Host Settings.  I just get the error nothing else.

Luckily I own the hosting company so I can restart IIS, and I did and the problem persists.

Can I upgrade to 4.5.1?  Will that fix it?  Is there an easy way to upgrade from 4.5 to 4.5.1?

Thanks.

It might help me and others if I were to know what the error means in the first place.  It might help me determine what to do to fix it.

I installed 4.5 on my development server and it works perfectly.  I don't get the afore mentioned error.

Also, I upgraded to 4.5.1 and the problem remains.  No change.

I want to offer DNN Hosting as a plan, but I can't if this install won't work.  So if anyone can tell me what the error means, it would be appreciated.

Thanks.
