Hello Fellow DNNers,

I have a friend who has an existing and sucessful traditional hosting business. For quite some time I've been keeping him informed about the increasing power and versitility of DNN because I thought it would be in his interest to support it as a host. The other day he asked me to advise him about the make-up of hosting packages that DNNers would go for. I did a lot of research for him but it's still just my opinion. So I thought I would post here and get a few more balanced opinions.

What would be handy, would be your opinions, attitudes, requirements etc for the following aspects, so that my friend can decide for himself what kind of approach to take.

1..Control Panel: Need It - Don't Need It - As long as support is quick turn around.
2..Application Hosting v Portal Hosting: Many require their own copy of DNN whereas others require only to purchase portals on a shared DNN installation. Thoughts on this if any.
3..Additional Server or environment features (above and beyond what DNN requires)
4..Expected Initial Resource Levels: Email addresses, Bandwidth, Disk space etc.
5..When a DNN site out-grows it's resources: Some hosts (mine included) charge too much for additional resources. Thoughts on this if any.
6..Database: Prefer MSSQL - Rather have MySQL - Other thoughts.
7..Premium Modules: Would like to see some premium modules included?
8..Other comments

I'm looking forward to reading your comments. There are so many people with differing requirements. I've never found a DNN host I'm totally happy with. This may be an opportunity to influence the creation of a new UK based service.
