I read in the DNN book, that you can share users between Parent and Childportals, like a single sign on. I installed a DNN 4.5 and made two childportals. But I can't share a user from parent to child or child to child portal. Am I doing something wrong or is that feature removed from DNN, and if yes, why?

Thanks, Rainer

I vaguely recall reading that as well once.. but I also seem to recall that the method it referred to was that a user who had accounts in different child portals could move between them and to the parent by using the parent URL/portal name... as in: sign into yourdomain.com, then open yourdomain.com/childportal and you don't have to sign in a second time so long as you have accounts in both.

So that's probably not what you're after anyway.... so I suggest having a dig around Snowcovered as I was looking at 2-3 modules on there recently that specifically created accouts.. or shared accounts across portals. One of them had a system of shared areas where specific portals could be brought together and share their users. I haven't quite yet got the need for it but will soon, so let me know if you look into any of them.

Thanks for your reply. I'm currently evaluating DNNMasters Multi Portal User Sharing (you find it in Snowcovered). It looks good, so I guess I'll buy it. The only "problem" I see is, that not all DNN modules (3rd party) use the DNN Membershipprovider to get userdata. So for some of them, you need to alter their scripts. DNNMasters give you thos scripts, but you have to install them manually. So you need to keep track of your modules and stuff. But the functionality is too cool to miss for me, so I can live with that.

Rainer.
