I am probably not the first one to bring this up, but the moderation and thus the delays when using these forums, is starting to drive me crazy!

How about after 10 messages, with good behaviour, that your account becomes unmoderated.. there could be a "report" button that anyone can use to flag an unchecked message as one that the moderators should take a look at. If you post something inappropriate you are instantly back to moderated for another 10 messages. And you would only be allowed to get unmoderated 2 times.

I think that moderation is probably reducing the participation.. at least I would feel less inclined to help, especially if I needed to ask them for more information. Also it must be a big job to moderate these forums, I am sure that the majority of people with 10 posts or more are trustworthy.

Are there any other good DNN forums around?

Moderation of this forum is just plain childish and pathetic.

Usually, you need between 20 and 50 posts to become unmoderated. If however you've posted helpfull posts, you can get unmoderated earlier.

The reason moderation takes a long time sometimes is that there is a bug in the current forum module that will not display posts in the moderation queue properly. There are a lot of modarators (core team + team leaders), and usually the moderation queue seems empty when anyone has a look at it. We expect this to become better with the new forums module....

Short statement from a moderator:

  • there is an issue in the current version of the Forums module, that delays added posts, until they show up in the moderators queue. This will be solved soon with new Forums version.
  • although the DNN team is spread (nearly) around the world, it can happen especially over the weekends, that there are a few hours, when no moderator is online
  • you will get unmoderated after a significant number of compliant posts (~20)or becoming a benefactor. I estimate, that currently about two third of the public posts are unmoderated.
  • AFAIK there are no other larger public DNN forums in English language

Ahh that is good to hear there are lots of posters that are unmoderated, just in the wording it sounds as though there would only be a handful of admins with unmoderated access.

I am just starting out with DNN, I am a programmer and no doubt will find (and be reporting here) a lot of bugs
Not saying that DNN is any buggier than any other system, I just tend to push components and platforms to the breaking point. lol
