I have come across a possible issue when doing the following
-Forwarding a godaddy domain name to my DNN portal and using the godaddy tools to mask the portals URL

doing this makes it not possible to login to the portal. The login feature works properly with out error but you do not get logged in, it will re-direct you to wherever you have specified but you will not be logged in.

Just thought I would point this out

Mark,

Can you explain exactly what the godaddy masking tool is doing to the URL?

The godaddy masking tool displays a domain name that you specify and only that name. For example if I defined it as "www.MYPAGE.com, no matter what the user does on the DNN portal they will only see the url www.MYPAGE.com

I thought that this was only a cosmetic change but I guess it prevent the passing of some information...

Most likely this is preventing the passing of the query string values needed o switch pages within DotNetNuke.  you could try turning oft that feature and testing it, but I am sure that it is related to the rewriter.

Yes, once the feature is turned off the site works fine. I did this though to try fix what seems to be an imposibility on the DNN portal which is to have a child portal NOT display the URL of the host. I find that there is a problem when you have child portals that display the host url that is of absolutely no relation to the child portals purpose and is really detrimental to the idea of "Branding"

Now that I am moving onto my own server I will be able to create as many istallations of DNN as I wish, those who are on say "godaddy" and are limited to a certain amount of databases must use the child portal method. I do confess I am new to this but these are my finding so far.
