Has anyone come up with a simple, user friendly approach to scanning documents directly into a document archive?

It is overly complicated to train users to
1) Scan a document to some local folder like My Documents.
2) Name the file such that user can find it later.
2) Open a DNN module like DMX (which we own and use)
3) Browse to find the document on local hard drive & upload
4) Input file name & search key info in the DNN module
4) Open Windows Explorer & browse to My Documents to delete the just uploaded file.

My "Vision" is to set up a Document Repository for copies of Importing documents for our company.  This probably implies:
1) New Sub-Folder for each Product - PO# "Oleic Acid - 54321"
2) Saving copies of all transaction related documents to this folder.
3) Status Flag boxes (Check Boxes) on the folder or color coding of folder as to status. (PO Issued, Docs Received, Funds Wired, Arrival Notice, Received, etc.)
   - Posibily this implies a little bit of a workflow thinking??

Again, my frustration is the complexity of the Scan to Repository process with DNN vs simply Scan to Folder-On-Server.

Maybe this is where I am forced to decide to teach my self to modify or create modules?

Thanks,

Gary

You might be able to build a desktop application and communicate to the DNN site using Michael Washington's IWeb module using web services.

Regardless if which route you take it will take modification.
