Hi , i wanted to ask you ,which is the minimum size of mssql database for installing dnn 4.9, because when i install it on my webhost

it takes 1. to much time like hours and after db is full. I have a mssql db of 100megs. Its that normal?

thanks in advance

nik

It usually only takes a minute at the most to install the DB.  So it looks like it was stuck in a loop and repeatedly writing errors to the EventLog, which eventually caused your DB to become full.  I recommend you delete your database and try to install again.

This is my DotNetNuke install guide for your reference...http://www.bestwebsites.co.nz/dotnetnuke/easy-dotnetnuke-installation-guide/

You can check the size of the event log by running the following

sp_spaceused eventlog

Via the SQL manager

You can clear all records using

TRUNCATE TABLE EventLog

Thank you all for this post. I practically spent the last 24 hours trying to figure out what to do to solve this problem and for all the solutions I needed to have MS SQL manager install on my computer (not mac friendly). So running those two lines on my GoDaddy DB Admin (Query Analyzer) I was able to clear that out and login to the portal and then run the script through the Host section.

A side note about GoDaddy account and DNN db

- Talked with GoDaddy and really the unlimited DB is limited to 200mb each, to have more space I should have my own server. I don't know how it works with other servers but I probably can get more with GoDaddy if I pay more or have like a business account which is not the necessary case.

Thank you guys, you saved my day and I learned something new about DNN and dB

Simone,
I am glad you were able to solve your issue. You should observer number of entries in your eventlog table (using Admin > Event Viewer).
Note: this solution won't continue to work in DNN 7.4.0, please read http://www.dnnsoftware.com/community-...
