On a intranet I really want to deploy some user manuals as a wiki so users can contribute easily.

The problem is that for the average office worker wiki syntax is not inuitive, where the word processor functionality of the text/html module is very user friendly.

Does anyone see issues or have suggestions regarding opening up a module to all registered users (intranet anyways).

The only thing I can think of is that it isn't Word exactly, so some bad habits may cause funky html. However with a nightly backup and a wee bit of training it seems like this would be a much easier way to wiki for the average human, especially being able to now just click and type if they want.

If you have just one bit of information that you are looking to share and it makes sense to all be in 1 page, then I personally do not see anything wrong with it.  I have setup DNN portals for some school assignments of mine and opened up the text/HTML module to all registered users to accomplish exactly what you are talking about.

Now, the one word of caution I have is that note ANYONE can do anything with the content and that would be my only risk that I would be concerned about and that is individuals removing content that should have been left.

I think I have seen some text/html module with versioning on Snowcovered (can't remeber the name)

For these kind of "open" systems it would be good to limit the available style option in the FCK editor and provide some basic templates people can choose from.

Not sure if it helps or not, but the Core Repository module has an "articles" and a "blog" template and several others.  Some of which allow comments, etc. and can be moderated.  It would mean that a user could add a comment with a suggested change and the moderator could then review and implement/reject the proposed change.

Once Steve has created/released a tutorial on extending the Repository engine, I am pretty sure one could "tweak" the engine and a template to allow moderated changes to a text/html based template that would accomplish exactly what you want.

Might help you.
