This is why I need to know what links should be on there - I don't want any old sites though - they should be sites that the DNN community use often. The Toolbar should be a time saver and also an index of the top quality DNN sites out there.
Hi Rodney,
The blogs link always list everything as new both at the parent level and at the specific owner's publishing level even though some of this content hasn't changed since the intro of the toolbar. Anyway to add a retired or archived feature for these blogs so that new means new? Old content is great as long as the end user knows it's old but when it says [new] it would be nice if this content was new by month or some other standard. This might also serve as an incentive for those who publish and have asked to be included in the category to continue to frequently publish as this is a high visibilty item on the toolbar and it would reflect poorly on the publisher if their content consistently appeared as old. This in not meant to rub the folks who publish the wrong way, and I'll be the first to say that I am thankful that they publish the quality info that they currently publish, but if the toolbar hopefully becomes widely adopted I think the value of what's publish and how current it is will play a key role in the continued usefulness of the toolbar. Any stats available of the total # of downloads for the toolbar?
Also, since the dnn wiki site is hopefully becoming the defacto aggregated information source for dnn, it would be nice if this feature was broken out of the links category and placed more prominently on the toolbar. It could also, much like the blogs category, reference when new content has been published. It might also drive a little more energy to the development of the wiki site. What do you think?
I think the core team should consider an official endorsement of the toolbar somewhere on the dnn site, hopefully somewhere where folks new to dnn would find it along with a short write up of installation instructions for both ie and ff and also a short list of features of the toolbar and why those new to dnn should find them useful.
I think this would continue to push the adoption of the toolbar along with raising the bar (not the toolbar) for its future development.
Just to let you know...it has become my habit to use all the main categories across the toolbar anytime I'm doing anything dnn related on the web. As soon as I pop the browser open, the toolbar is where I go next. So, keep up the good work and thanks for this valuable contribution to the community.
