Do hosting sites allow for custom modules to be loaded onto their system?

I was thinking of developing one and when I choose a host, I want to be able to have them install it.

What are some things I need to look for from a host?  I am thinking of starting a portal.

thanks,

Dean

I would like to know this as well.

With hosting compainies like powerdnn or 3esentials do you have access to manually install dnn via http with your own dnn install script which will load custom build modules, default skins and container packages?

Thanks,

Yes you should have access to do this on almost all hosts.  If they give you access to the "host" account you will be able to install any custom module you desire.

I know that 3essentials allows you to run your own installations and most other providers do as well.  Again in this case you will have the host account and be fully able to make any desired changes.

The only time you would have an issue if you choose to allow THEM to install it, and then they would not actually give you the host account.  If you are looking at a provider like that I would move away.  Heck, send me $20 and the information for your hosting account and I'll run the manual install for you if you do not want to run with the install troubles on hosted environments.
