Before upgrading from 4.3.7 to 4.5.1 I checked out as many features as I could on my localhost development/test system. Needless to say the behaviour of portals wasn't something that I was able to test.

Today I had a need to create a new parent portal on my production web site. I created a new template of the portal that I wanted to clone (with included content) and then used it to try to create a parent portal. The result  is attached below.  Next I took a template of the same portal created a few weeks ago under 4.3.7 and it worked just fine.

Anybody got any ideas on what is wrong. Needless to say I can live with this for a while, but I will be creating many new portals soon and was kinda hoping that I could build a master and clone it and the tweak as required.

Are others having portal template issues with 4.5.1?

Regards,

/DaveS

WOW  --- a reply and a solution in 4 minutes. John that has to be a record.

I am amazed that portal export and creation weren't working. Having spent years managing a software testing group for a fortune 100 software company I would have thought that portal export and creation would be at the heart of any software testing done on DNN.  It appears to be the only way to move content from one version of DNN to a newer one without an upgrade. I would have though for its own testing uses DNN would have made this more robust and reliable.

Is the fix in 4.5.2 or do is this something I'll have to track in each new release?

Thanks again,

/DaveS

LOL, not my personal best record, but thanks.  It's a lot easier when it is already done and I just happen to be reading the notifications coming in, so a little luck doesn't hurt either.

Yes, I have seen in Gemini that it has been fixed in 4.5.2  http://support.dotnetnuke.com/issue/ViewIssue.aspx?id=5546.
