OK, this is embarassing...

I've been pulling my hair out and posting message and ... turns out "authentication mode" in web.config was set to Windows.
Following a various posts here, I changed that to Forms and ALL WORKED!

I have full access to everything appropriate to each account.

When I get around to it, I will try to post a few basic items to be sure to check when investigating similar errors...

Thanks ALL for your help!

Lindsay

Lummers, I went through all login problems posted and found quite a few similar issues.
Copied a few ideas out and then looked at applying the "fixes".

Turns out that the moment I changed authentication to Forms and not Windows, all worked.
It also happened to be the first change I tried... :-)

If there are any reservations about Forms authentication, let me know but right now I'm just happy to be able to access and work on the site!

Cheers,

Lindsay

If you started with a fresh install - how did it get set to Windows?

That is not there by default

Truthfully, I'm not sure as I did try a few different things to get it to work.
I did have a couple of installation glitches and MIGHT have changed that setting while trouble shooting although, once installed, I did all work at first.
So, in final answer, I don't know when it got set to Windows but once a changed it to forms, all worked.

Cheers,

L
