Hi folks,

I am a newbie in DotNetNuke and I am struggling badly on trying to create new look for my website. The question is what approach should i take? I know i can use skins but someone mentioned template is a better way to do it. So, which is the better way? If template, then how to create template and how to use it on the website?

Confused

Skins and containers are used to apply a design to your site. please refer to the skinning guide, how to create your own skins and containers.

Templates are used by various modules, to customize arrangements of elements with header, item, footer, etc.

there are two kinds of templates currently:

  • portal templates, providing setup of sites with pages and modules placed on it. use create template in Host :: Portals menu item to create it '
(sorry, that I forgot to mention this before)
  • module templates: it depends on the modules, how to modify them - some modules provide UI, e.g. on settings page, others require to enter file system for tweaking.
