I have a subpage on one of my websites that is a pretty popular page for a couple of reasons. I would like to purchase a separate domain name and have it redirect to that sub-page. If I setup a basic portal for the new domain name, and point the home page at the sub-page on the other site, will search engines follow it? Will they penalize me for doing the redirect?

Any suggestions here would be greatly appreciated.

You need to use a 301 redirect - it is the only type of redirect that is search engine safe.  We have a SEO module for sale on snowcovered that does 301 redirects
