Would be a nice core module (not Speerio, but a basic file manager)

I have had the Speerio File Manager for a couple of years and it has been a total excercise in frustration.

It looks slick, and seems to have a lot of slick features, BUT:

1. There is absoultely NO DOCUMENTATION.  I spend hours trying to figure out how to do simple things.

2. Support ranges from So-So to Sucks - I have left messages on the support board and had them sit there for weeks before getting an answer.  Sometimes I do not get an answer at all.  ANd I'm one of those types who spend much time searching the forums for similar queries before I leave a message.  Of course a lot of that could be solved if there was some documentation.

3. The program does wierd things, like change the file names when you upload a file.

4. Upgrades are not handled well.   I had several instances of a previoius version working on a site, but when the site was upgraded from NET 1. to NET 2, FMS completely broke.  It was months before an updated version was available and when it was available, the configuration methodology changed completely, so everything had to be set up all over again.  All the Icons had changed, and were hard-coded into the app.  My users were totally confused as to what the new Icons represented - And with no documentation, etc...

I need a FM that  WORKS and that is intuitive for average users.   I am looking for a USEABLE file manager, not one with a  lot of slick features like inline video and audio players, thumbnail generation, etc.  Those may be nice to have for a few people, but I think Speerio shoud the basics down first.

I'm with ya there. We had used FMP on two of our installations and were looking to take it company wide but we have also been a bit disappointed in the support. I know Nik is busy, but it's been a looooong time since we have seen an update.

Please post back if you find something that works! I'll do the same.

Interesting, but there is nothing to download or test.  I do not like the site.  Another one of those sites where too much effort is spend on slickness and not enough on substance.
