It appears that the RoadMap section of this site has come alive! This is a great opprotunity for we the community to exercise our voice about the future of DNN.

I noticed that SSL support has been added and has a pretty good amount of votes. However, I would like to encourage everyone to take a second and place a vote for SSL, in hopes of raising the visibility of the issue. Hopefully, with enough votes there will be serious consideration to make SSL support a priority in coming releases. I personally feel that all sites, exspecially sites using forms authentications (most DNN sites do), should use SSL to protect the user's privacy and security. If you plan on using DNN for eCommerce this is a MUST HAVE feature! Whatever your reason, if you think SSL support would be a benefit to you (and the rest of us) please take a second to add your vote!

In my opinion this is a prime candidate for incorporation into the core as it would benefit both users and administrators greatly.

I was dealing with this issue recently and would have been extremely convenient to have added support through the admin interface instead of seeking a work-around.

SSL has got my vote!!!!

SSL is something that the core has needed for a long time!  It has been pushed around on the road map for years.  It's time to add it.

Our votes matter and I have proof!!!

It was offical posted to Gemini in release 3.3.7, we started voting during 4.5.0-4.5.3 and now its in 4.5.4! Not too mention this quote: "this feature took just a few hours to implement and touches very little existing DNN code" from Joe on his recent blog post. So why did it not get done until 4.5.4? My opinion is that we the community spoke and the core listened and this should stand as a great example of the DNN community in action!

Thank you all for voting, and thank you core team for listening!

Yes.  Voting was one factor.  We do not want to give the impression that voting is the sole factor however it did support our decision.  Another key factor was that when looking at the feature we saw that we could implement the feature with minimal impact to the core and with a low level of coding effort.  If this had been a two month effort it definitely would not have happened in this release.  The final factor we had to consider was that we recently discovered a bug where SSL versions of page links were getting cached and indexed.  This caused some weird behavior which was becoming more evident on DNN.com.  I don't think any one factor would have caused the change, but it did help that we have had this on the roadmap for so long and that it was important to the community.

So keep adding your votes to the roadmap.  They definitely do help us to prioritize our efforts.
