I ran into this issue for the Administrator registration email. Here was my workaround, maybe you can adapt it to your needs.

Host->Languages->Language Editor

Resource Name: EMAIL_USER_REGISTRATION_ADMINISTRATOR_BODY.Text

Change

Date: [Date:Current]
First Name: [Profile:FirstName]
Last Name: [Profile:LastName]

To

Date: [Date:Current]
First Name: [User:FirstName]
Last Name: [User:LastName]

I only did this since the users are required to enter their first and last name in the user registration part. It's ridiculous that there is a separate entry box for the first/last names in the profile section. Why wouldn't it just carry it over from the user section?

So through 3 release processes, not one person registered a new user?   There should be a checklist (mandatory test cases) for each release because these issues are a big deal ..

I have to agree that this is a pretty major issue for me.  It is a royal pain to be foreced to login to my site and search by e-mail address just to find out the name of the new account.

I too would be interested in any temporary workarounds?  Is this fixed in 4.5.3?
