The problem does exist in 4.5.3 as well. As for a temporary fix, "dnninstalled" has what appears to be the best suggestion - simply change the appropriate email template in App_GlobalResources/GlobalResources.resx replacing [Profile:FirstName] and [Profile:LastName] with [User:FirstName] and [User:LastName] respectively.  You should also be able to use [Membership:Username] for the Username.

This works because the TokenReplace.replacedTokenValue function only performs the check for the appropriate TokenAccessLevel when referencing the Profile object in a token (and the Membership object for the Password property). Any other fix would require a core code change and re-compile.

Oh thank goodness it is not just me!!! I am on 4.5.3 and was going crazy trying to figure out what was wrong!! This is really a major issue. I'm going to try the change suggested as well. This has been logged a bug right? I'm not that familiar with the "bug" process. Thanks, ~bg

TokenReplace, which is intended to provided a central service for replacements of tokens in core and modules, has been changes in DNN 3.5.2, to support custom profile properties and respect user's individial visibility settings. Unfortunately this has not been tested in all situations leading to issues in system message, I apologize for any inconvenience and this shall be corrected in DNN 4.5.4. meanwhile I blogged, how to reformat the notification email to contain the most necessary user data. This fix does seem to work for FirstName, LastName and UserName.  However, it does not seem to work for other fields like Unit, Street, City, Region, Bountry, Postal Code, Telephone.  Any suggestions there?  Thanks!
