Well, I'm the new guy for the moment (I'm sure someone newer is joining this very second), but I wanted to introduce myself and ask some questions.
First, the intro.
I'm a 25-year-old guy. My name is Marquis and I just graduated from school with a BS Information Systems (and that's how it feels sometimes). I'm out and trying to learn as much as I can about programming and webdesign. I recently started working with this company that uses dotnetnuke for their website. I'm used to hand-coding a lot of things and making banners and such, so this was going to be interesting. The site looked rather plain, though.
Since that day I was thinking of a way to use whatever varying bits of programming I could use to generate the same features and extend from there. After doing a lot of looking, thinking and planning, I decided to take a look at your website; you never know what you could find. Maybe you had skins or other things available. I found myself thoroughly surprised when I took a look at one of the sites on your top sites list.
I was stupefied. It was art and a half and I was very excited. Maybe I didn't have to reinvent the wheel after all; I could just make a quick update to it.
Well, that bring me to the title of my post, doesn't it? I noted that you had all kinds of things talking about teams and projects and such. I got excited at the thought of learning new things and wanted to join a team, but then I hit a wall; I didn't know how much experience you required someone to have before joining a team. I'm just not one of the lucky few that have been programming since they were 14, so I don't have years of coding experience. I learn quickly and I'm willing to work hard in order to become better. For example, I am currently learning Japanese for fun ^_^. Back to the topic, though, can anyone tell me how high of a level of skill I would have to have before I could join a team. I really, really really want to join one.
Thanks,
Marquis
