Hi all,

Well it's been an eventful night! Our main web server has died in a rather messy and unpleasant manner, taking all our websites with it. Our data centre people tried valiantly to restore the SAN volume but it just won't boot up. They've said they can get all our files over to a new machine but that we'll have a fresh out-of-the-box Windows installation on it and we'll need to reinstall and configure all the software we had on there.

Assuming they recover the SQL database and all the DNN files what's the best way to get it back up and running? Before the crash we had DNN 4.4.1 and SQL Server 2003 Express.

Please, please help - my life will just not be worth living if I can't fix this.

Pete

setting up the recovered installation on a new machine should work like transferring it from one machine to another - erik blogt about this some time ago:

Thanks for that!

As an aside, in somewhat miraculous circumstances our server has resurrected itself! No one can explain why at the moment but we're getting a second server lined up and transferring everything over before this one expires again, in three days no doubt, after visiting a few old friends ;-)
