Does anybody know if and when the Member Directory is going to be released?

Back in December of 2006 the project lead, Tony Valenti, talked about replacing the contacts module with a member directory.  He hasn't posted anything since then so I'm wondering if he project is still on the roadmap and a possible release date.

-Thanks

I haven't heard either, but I'd be willing to pay $$$ to help sponsor development.

My understanding is that this is still the plan, as for a timeframe, I have no idea!
